The Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti
The Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti was established to celebrate the legacy and artistic vision of one of the greatest tenors of all time: Luciano Pavarotti. Its mission is to carry forward his idea of music without boundaries, music capable of uniting tradition and innovation, talent and passion, culture and popularity, rekindling a love for classical music while at the same time embracing new styles and musical sounds.
The Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti is composed of talented young professionals who embody his dual spirit: strong roots in the classical tradition and an openness toward new musical languages and forms of expression. As an ambassador of the great Italian concert tradition, the orchestra aims to bring the excellence of our musical culture to the world, drawing inspiration from Maestro Pavarotti’s artistic legacy.
Starting from the classical repertoire, the Orchestra is building a rich artistic program with the goal of fostering an innovative dialogue between different musical languages, collaborating with internationally renowned soloists, prestigious institutions such as the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and celebrated pop artists.
At its debut in December 2024, the Orchestra had the pleasure and honor of accompanying performances by Ron, Luca Carboni, Lorenzo Jovanotti, Giovanni Caccamo, and Irene Grandi at the Confindustria Emilia concert held at the Paladozza in Bologna; on the same occasion, it was also conducted by Maestro Beppe Vessicchio.
In its artistic vision, the Orchestra stands out for its openness to Modern Classical, a movement that blends classical tradition with contemporary sounds, engaging the curiosity of a diverse, attentive, and eclectic audience. The ability to create a dialogue between contemporary music and great classics such as Mahler, Brahms, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and many other distinguished composers represents the Orchestra’s primary and ambitious goal, together with its commitment to maintaining a standard of excellence worthy of the name it bears.
The Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti is not only a tribute to the ideals promoted and upheld by the great Modenese tenor, but also a tangible testament to the fact that music, in its many possible forms, is a universal language capable of inspiring, uniting, and transforming.
The Inaugural Concert took place in June 2025 in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, as part of the prestigious Festival Respighi. Beginning with the composer to whom the festival is dedicated, the program included works by Ravel, De Falla, Khachaturian, and Márquez. After its summer residency at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, the Orchestra was the protagonist of the major concert Pavarotti 90, also broadcast on Mediaset networks, which was held at the Arena di Verona on September 30, 2025. The event featured internationally renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Vittorio Grigolo, Francesco Meli, Fabio Sartori, Marcelo Álvarez, Jonathan Tetelman, Yusif Eyvazov, Angela Gheorghiu, Mariam Battistelli, Carmen Giannattasio, and Andrea Bocelli, as well as pop stars including Laura Pausini, Luca Carboni, Biagio Antonacci, Il Volo, Umberto Tozzi, and Luciano Ligabue. In honor of Maestro Pavarotti’s 90th birthday, the Orchestra also performed at the Festival del Belcanto in Modena on October 12 at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni, together with the Corale Rossini, soprano Maria Francesca Rossi, mezzo-soprano Benedetta Mazzetto, and internationally renowned tenor Vittorio Grigolo.
Meanwhile, the Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti won a public tender for the management of the Teatro Comunale Laura Betti in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), where it curates a multidisciplinary season and organizes festivals, performances, and activities in collaboration with numerous public and private institutions. The inaugural gala took place on October 10, 2025, with outstanding public success.
The Orchestra also curates several festivals in prestigious venues such as the Casa Museo Luciano Pavarotti and has presented world premieres, including the opera Canto di Natale by composer Salvatore Passantino at the Teatro Verdiin Busseto, among others, in co-production with Voce all’Opera and Compagnia della Corona.
